On May 19, 2026, Dr. Lisa Boyd was re-elected to serve her third and final term on the Bibb County Board of Education in the At-Large, Post 8 position and currently serves as Chair of the Instructional Services Committee and Vice Chair of the Fiscal and Support Services Committee.

A graduate of Southwest High School, Dr. Boyd, attended Agnes Barden Elementary School, W.T. Morgan Elementary School, McEvoy Junior and McEvoy High. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education, a Master’s degree in Education, Specialist degrees in Early Childhood Education and Administration, and a Doctorate in Educational Leadership. She attended Augusta College, Mercer University, Georgia College, and the University of Georgia. 

Dr. Boyd is a retired educator with 34 years of service in the Bibb County School District. She taught at Eugenia Hamilton, Walter P. Jones and Springdale Elementary schools after serving as a long-term substitute at Tinsley Elementary. She then became the Assistant Principal at Joseph B. Riley Elementary School before serving as Principal at James H. Porter Elementary School and the Butler Early Childhood Center. Dr. Boyd also spent some time working in the Central Office as an Elementary Curriculum Director and the Director of the Bibb County School District’s Pre-K Program.

“I joined the Bibb County Board of Education to continue serving the children, teachers, administrators, and support personnel. Having been a teacher and school and system administrator, I believed that I could help continue the good work going on in the Bibb County Schools and be a voice for all those that are involved in the daily workings of our District,” she said. “I also have a passion for serving children with disabilities and wanted to ensure that those students were provided all the opportunities available for them, no matter their diagnosis.”

Dr. Boyd served as Vice President of the Board of Education in 2022, and has served as Chair of the Instructional Services Committee for five years.

Dr. Boyd also serves as the President of the Bibb County Education Foundation and currently works with the Griffith Foundation.
