Mr. James Freeman is serving his second term representing District 6 on the Bibb County Board of Education and is currently Chair of the Personnel Services Committee.
A graduate of Central High School, he attended Tinsley Elementary and Miller Middle School. He is a “Double Bear,” having graduated from Mercer University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science in 1996 as well as earning his law degree from Mercer’s Walter F. George School of Law in 1999.
An attorney by trade, Mr. Freeman’s law office in Macon specializes in personal injury and family law. He also currently serves as Chief Judge for the City of Perry Municipal Court, presiding over traffic, code enforcement and probation violation cases.
“I want to ensure Bibb County has a strong public education system where every parent will consider sending their child. As the father of a young learner, I want every child to receive a quality education from teachers dedicated to their well-being,” he said. “As an attorney, I try to bring well-reasoned consideration to the actions of the School Board. As a husband of an educator, I listen out for the concerns of our teachers so they can focus on teaching.”
In 2024, Mr. Freeman served as President of the Board, and previously as Chair of the Personnel Services Committee on the Bibb County Board of Education. He has also served on advisory boards for Leadership Macon, the Greater Macon Chamber of Commerce, Exchange Club of Macon, and other community organizations.
