BOARD OF TRUSTEES - UNITY OF PURPOSE STATEMENT

We, the elected Trustees of the CUSD, as entrusted public stewards, will work collaboratively to:
  • Serve in the best interest of our students and community; and
  • Be accountable for the prudent use of district financial resources; and
  • Establish policies that support the highest standards and promote equity and inclusion; and
  • Assure safe school environments; and
  • Provide a quality education experience for all students; and
  • Speak with one voice once decisions are made; we collectively support them and move to implementation.
As Trustees, we must act intentionally throughout our tenure to:
  • Put students first.
  • Trust one another.
  • Engage in honest and respectful dialogue with one another and the CUSD staff.
  • Exhibit ethical and moral conduct with one another and the community.
  • Act with integrity, transparency, and continuous self-improvement.
  • Be empathetic to different points of view.
  • Celebrate the District’s achievements, accomplishments, and successes.

Meeting Schedule:
Regular meetings of the Central Unified School District Board of Trustees are typically held on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month at Central Unified School District Office, Room 4, 5652 W. Gettysburg Ave., Fresno, CA 93722.

Closed Session begins at 6:00 p.m. and Open "Public Session begins at 7:00 p.m. (except as noted).


MEMBERS OF THE PUBLIC ARE WELCOME TO PARTICIPATE IN ALL OF OUR MEETINGS.  YOUR PARTICIPATION IS ENCOURAGED AND APPRECIATED.
  Regular Board meetings will be live-streamed and may be accessed at Central YouTube Channel: YouTube.com/centralunifiedschooldistrict. If you wish to speak on an item on the Agenda, please call the public call-in phone number above, or e-mail your comments by 3:00 PM the day of the meeting to: commentsfrompublic@centralunified.org or fill out a request form, provided on the table near the entrance, and submit it to the Clerk of the Board prior to the meeting. Comments received by e-mail will be read during the public comment period or during the relevant agenda item.
   Public comment related to agenda items will be allowed when the item is called.  Public comments regarding an item not on the agenda will be allowed during the Public Comments section of the Agenda.  The Board is governed by the Brown Act and may briefly respond to public comments but take no action except on items scheduled on the agenda.  A maximum of 20 minutes total is set aside for persons wishing to address the Board.  A maximum of three (3) minutes per speaker may be allowed.  Speakers are requested to state their name and to address comments to the Board of Trustees.  Items requiring lengthy discussion may, at the Board’s discretion, be scheduled as a specific agenda item at future meetings. (Ed. Code 35145.5, Government Code 54954.2, 54954.3)
   In compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act, if you need special assistance to access the meeting via telephonic or electronic means or to otherwise participate in this meeting, including auxiliary aids or services, please contact the Superintendent’s Office at (559) 274-4700, extension 10150.  Notification by noon on the Friday preceding the board meeting, or at least 48 hours prior to the meeting, will enable the Governing Board to make reasonable arrangements to ensure accessibility to the meeting.
   Any writings or documents that are public records and are provided to a majority of the Governing Board regarding an open session agenda item, including board backup material for open session agenda items, will be made available for public inspection on the District’s website.
   The District welcomes other language speakers to participate in Board meetings.  Anyone planning to participate and needing an interpreter should call (559) 274-4700, extension 10150, by noon on the Friday preceding the board meeting, or at least 48 hours in advance of the meeting, so arrangements can be made for an interpreter. El Distrito da la bienvenida a las personas quienes hablan español a las juntas de la Mesa Directiva. Si planea asistir y necesita interpretación llame al (559) 274-4700, extensión 10150, el viernes antes de la junta y antes del mediodía, o a lo menos 48 horas antes de la junta, para poder hacer los arreglos para la interpretación.
   If you have any questions on school district issues, please submit them in writing via e-mail to: commentsfrompublic@centralunified.org.  The appropriate staff member will contact you to answer your questions and provide you with information.

Parent/Guardian may request that directory information or personal information of the student or parent/guardian, as defined in Education Code 49061 and/or 49073.2, be excluded from the minutes. The request must be made in writing to the secretary or clerk of the Board. 
Los padres/tutores de los estudiantes pueden solicitar que la información del directorio o información personal de sus hijos o de los padres/tutores se excluya de las actas, como se define en el Código de Educación 49061 y/o 49073.2.
