The Superintendent recommends the purchase of 202 HP Windows netbooks from low bid respondent Broadway Typewriter of San Diego, California, in the amount of $264.72 per device for a total of $53,473.44; and the use of this bid response for the next 90 days, subject to normal board guidelines for purchasing and reporting.

As part of our yearly hardware refresh cycle, we are purchasing low-cost Windows netbooks for student use for schools that requested them as replacements for outgoing student desktops. An RFP was posted listing two options for hardware, and 16 vendors responded.
