The Superintendent would like to recommend awarding a contract to Synovia Solutions for Transportation GPS, Time and Attendence, Navigation and Diagnostic information (bus alerts) for the estimated amount of $117,600 yearly for 5.5 years if funds are available each year. First 6 months are at no charge.

Barrow County School System looked at 3 products that offered GPS, Navigation and time and attendance for our buses. Synovia was the most user friendly for bus drivers and managers and will import into our accounting software. We took a trip to see the product in action at another school district. They highly recommend this company and product. We believe this will improve:
    

• Time and Attendence more accurate, less paperwork, less manual entry
• GPS will let the managers know exactly where the bus is for parent inquires and issues involving the bus
• Navigation will allow sub bus drivers turn by turn directions

This product is fully implemented in Georgia currently and they have worked with state law enforcement for the safe use of the navigation unit.
