We will teach the Alabama College and Career Ready Standards (CCRS) with fidelity by...
  • ensuring teachers have a deep understanding of the content and language of the standards.
  • providing lessons that are purposely aligned and designed to effectively connect instruction to the standards.
  • using essential questions to link instructional practices to the standards.
  • having students explain the standards in their own words through oral and written communication.
We will collaboratively monitor the progress of our students by.....
  • using formative and summative assessments aligned to the standards.
  • frequently assessing and monitoring student work.
  • using a variety of assessment data to analyze student work.
  • identifying and providing support for students with learning needs.
  • using a variety of instructional strategies to address the learning needs of students.
  • providing a Response to Intervention (RTI) Process focused on the use of assessment, instruction, screening, and progress monitoring.
All teaching and learning activities will be composed of a common instructional framework consisting of the following components:
  • Bell Ringer:
    • An activity reviewing previously taught standards.
  • Opening/Mini-Lesson:
    • Activating strategies centered on the standard, element, and essential questions
    • Modeling best instructional practices while referencing standards and key vocabulary
    • Using examples of student work meeting or exceeding standards
  • Work Session: 
    • Engaging students by using performance tasks
    • Using higher-order questions to probe for student understanding
  • Closing:
    • Implementing summarizing strategies to assess student learning of the lesson

Administrative staff will ensure fidelity of the framework for instruction through classroom observations and Instructional Rounds.
