All teaching and learning activities will be composed of a common instructional framework consisting of the following components:
- Bell Ringer:
- An activity reviewing previously taught standards.
- Opening/Mini-Lesson:
- Activating strategies centered on the standard, element, and essential questions
- Modeling best instructional practices while referencing standards and key vocabulary
- Using examples of student work meeting or exceeding standards
- Work Session:
- Engaging students by using performance tasks
- Using higher-order questions to probe for student understanding
- Closing:
- Implementing summarizing strategies to assess student learning of the lesson
Administrative staff will ensure fidelity of the framework for instruction through classroom observations and Instructional Rounds.
