The Westwood school boards play a pivotal role in shaping the educational landscape and fostering student achievement within our district. By establishing clear and measurable goals for student success, the board can guide and support educators, allocate resources effectively, and create a supportive environment that empowers students to reach their full potential. Here are some examples of school board goals for student achievement:

  1. Ensure all students graduate prepared for postsecondary education, careers, and civic engagement: Set ambitious graduation rates and ensure that all students graduate with the skills and knowledge necessary to pursue their postsecondary goals and contribute to society.
  2. Close achievement gaps: Identify and address achievement gaps among different student groups, such as those based on socioeconomic status, race, ethnicity, or disability, to ensure equitable educational opportunities for all.
  3. Promote high academic standards and rigor: Establish high academic standards that challenge and motivate all students to achieve their full potential.
  4. Provide personalized and differentiated instruction: Implement instructional strategies that cater to individual learning styles and needs, ensuring that all students receive the support they require to succeed.
