In 2005, Warren County School System implemented its first long-range
plan as a system. The plan guided the school improvement efforts during
the past two years which led to SACs system accreditation. Each year, the
stakeholders reviewed the plans, charted progress, and identified additions,
revisions and deletions. As the stakeholders are now evaluating the option
of applying for charter status, the opinion is that major revisions need to be
made in the strategic plan to better focus areas that directly affect student
achievement. Other areas that support student achievement will be
evaluated annually and will be aligned with the strategic actions. The plan
was developed by completing the following steps:
1. The system mission, vision, and beliefs were refined.
2. Each school held an advisory team that developed a framework for
a possible charter school.
3. A system wide team of administrators representing the central
office and each school and BOE members reviewed a draft
revision of the strategic plan and made recommendations for the
future draft to be submitted to representative stakeholders for
input.
4. Input was utilized in the third revision and submitted again to the
Steering Committee for revision/approval and BOE approval was
received.
5. The final plan was reviewed during the system wide meeting at the
beginning of the year.
6. Balanced scorecards will be developed to monitor the plan.
7. The plan will be implemented and monitored throughout the year
by the Steering Committee.
8. The plan will be reviewed annually.
