Dear Wolverines:
Below is a link to a survey which is referenced in a postcard you will be getting in the next few days. The school board is asking for your input regarding the potential sharing of activities. We have some needs to possibly share some activities due to low numbers. For example, our football team graduates seven seniors and we did not have any eighth graders out for junior high football which led us to share JH football with Kingsley-Pierson. We will need to make a decision soon regarding the football sharing to meet the state's deadlines for next year. The board is also looking at long term direction and wanted to get the communities input to help them make decisions. There are some questions about sharing academically too. In the June Newsletter, I shared some information from an IASB workshop we had which showed how declining enrollment had impacted our future projections and a need to cut spending. This year we did buck the trend of declining enrollment and added 22 students, which will help our situation a great deal. At the same time, we need to stay on top of the situation and be able to make decisions with the best interests of the students in mind for the future. Thank you for your time.
