2. The Richmond County School System will have a Professional Learning Day on October 9, 2026. The day will be a student holiday for all Richmond County School System students.
3. October 12 - 13, 2026 is Fall Break for all Richmond County School System students and teachers. All 235 day employees will work these days.
4. The Richmond County School System Teacher of the Year Banquet will be held on October 15, 2026 at 7:00 p.m. at the Augusta Marriott at the Convention Center, 2 10th Street, Augusta, Georgia 30901.
5. The Richmond County Board of Education will hold its October 2026 Committee Meeting on October 20, 2026, at 4:00 p.m. The October 2026 Regular Board Meeting will immediately follow the conclusion of the Committee Meeting. The meetings will be held at Cross Creek High School.

She also moved that Mrs. Shawnda Stovall, Board President, be directed to execute an affidavit, in accordance with state law, affirming that no subject was discussed during the Executive Session that violates the Open Meeting Act of the State of Georgia.

1. The board returned at 8:47 p.m. Mrs. Stovall called for a motion to return to the Regular Board Meeting from the Executive Session. Ms. Samantha Valentine made a motion to return to the Regular Board Meeting and also motioned that Mrs. Shawnda Stovall, Board President, be directed to execute an affidavit, in accordance with state law, affirming that no subject was discussed during executive session that violates the Open Meeting Act of the State of Georgia.

F. *Approval to allow the Superintendent to implement the Facility Master Planning proposals contained in the Comprehensive Overview previously presented to the Board and further described in Items 1-6 below, effective for the school years commencing 2026-2027 except as otherwise noted:
1. *To temporarily close Barton Chapel Elementary (BCES) upon completion of the 2025-2026 school year & begin demolition of its existing facilities & construction of a new elementary school on its current campus for the purpose of consolidating with GHES. During construction, beginning in the 2026-2027 school year, most BCES students will temporarily attend GHES with the temporary addition of 10 portables. The Belfair Lakes subdivision boundary will be permanently reassigned to BES, BMS & WestsideHS. After construction, GHES will consolidate with the new BCES. The new consolidated elementary school is projected to open at the start of the 2028-2029 school year. Effective upon consolidation, GHES will be closed, & its facilities will be repurposed for a use to be finalized at a later time. All students currently assigned to GHES & all BCES students temporarily attending GHES will be reassigned to the new consolidated elementary school on the BC campus (See detail explanation in attachment).
2. *To close Jenkins-White Elementary School upon completion of the 2025-2026 school year and repurpose its facilities for a use to be determined at a later time. Effective for the 2026-2027 school year, the affected students will be reassigned to Hains Elementary School, Hornsby Elementary School, Lamar-Milledge Elementary School, and Wilkinson-Gardens Elementary School. Some students from Hornsby Elementary School will be reassigned to Lamar-Milledge ES and some students from Wilkinson Gardens Elementary School will be rezoned to Bayvale Elementary School.
3. *To close Tutt Middle School as a middle school upon completion of the 2025-2026 school year & consolidate Tutt &Langford MS into a new ms named Langford-Tutt MS to open during the 2026-2027 school year. TMS is currently serving students zoned for Tutt & students zoned for LMS who are temporarily attending Tutt during the construction of a new ms facility on the existing Langford campus, pursuant to planned consolidation action taken by the BOE in 2024. The new consolidated ms facility is projected to open on Langford’s campus during the 2026-2027 school year. Upon the opening of the new facility, Tutt & Langford will consolidate into one ms named Langford-Tutt MS. TMS will close & its facilities will be repurposed or disposed. Plans for the use or disposal of the TMS facilities have not been finalized. All students currently assigned to Tutt and all Langford students temporarily attending Tutt will be reassigned to the new consolidated ms on the Langford campus.
4. *To close Murphey Middle School upon completion of the 2025-2026 school year. Its facilities will be renovated, repurposed and converted as part of the conversion of the Murphey Middle School and T.W. Josey Comprehensive High School campuses into a new district-wide College and Career Academy serving grades 9-12 (described in (e) below) The Murphey MS boundary will be dissolved for the 2026-2027 school year, and the affected students will be reassigned to Langford Middle School, Richmond Hill Middle School, and Hornsby Middle School. Some students attending Glenn Hills Middle School will be reassigned to Richmond Hill Middle School.
5. *To temporarily close T.W. Josey Comprehensive HS existing facilities upon completion of the 2025-2026 school year to allow for renovation of its existing facilities, construction of new facilities on its current site, & conversion of the Josey/Murphey campus into a district-wide College & Career Academy serving grades 9-12. The new College & Career Academy is projected to open in the fall of 2029. During the three years of construction (2026-2027, 2027-2028, & 2028-2029), 9th through 12th grade students zoned for T.W. Josey HS will attend T.W. Josey HS in the closed Murphey Middle School facilities. After completion of construction & opening of the new College & Career Academy, the Josey HS boundary will be dissolved commencing with the 2029-2030 school year, & the affected students will be reassigned to the Academy of Richmond County, Butler HS, & Laney HS. Some students from Glenn Hills HS will be reassigned to Butler HS. All such students will be eligible to attend the new College & Career Academy.
6. *To reassign students and make proposed changes to Neighborhood Planning Units (NPUs) as outlined in the attached Facility Master Plan and the most recent Public Hearing Notice.

4. Richmond County School Systems will be closed on November 11, 2025 in Observance of Veteran's Day.
