  - Refer to slides
    - Ms. Knox went through the line items to provide an update on where and how money is spent. Some changes have been made to reflect purchases that were unnecessary this fiscal year and have been allocated to other areas of the budget.
    - Purchases outside of the written budget are allowed but go through an approval process.
Principal's Report
- Mid-year Academic Update
  - Knox’s slides provide a picture of trends that we are seeing.
    - All students are consistently making strides in literacy. The a strong literacy foundation is being laid for our students to be successful.
    - The MTSS is a robust process that helps all of our students get what they need.
    - Winter Math scores indicated a gain rather than the winter dip.
- Attendance
  - 5 students with >5 excused absences (medical or travel)
  - Laws are in place to reduce chronic absenteeism.
- Discipline
  - Referrals per month/grade level are indicated on slide.
  - Think sheets are effective tools to have students think about their behavior.

Spotlight
- Literacy - Wit & Wisdom Highlight (refer to Literacy Slide 2): Becoming a skilled reader encompasses both decoding and language comprehension. Both sides are equally important to comprehending.
- Wit and Wisdom reading, thinking, talking about it and then writing about it.
- The scope and sequence of literacy allows students to deepen their skill level and continue to grow as readers.
- Wit and Wisdom is knowledge building, allowing students to become experts on characters
Principal's Report
- Attendance-
  - See the attendance slide for attendance data
  - Most unexcused absences are travel
  - Most excused absences are medical
- Discipline-
  - Numbers are increasing as teachers are more consistent. The first 6 weeks established the expectations, and now teachers are noticing repetitive behaviors.
  - Defining behaviors and better understanding what the behaviors are and the why(s).

  - Current Concerns of the building: buildings are aging. New roof 5 years ago. Arborists visited last year. Updates for auditorium and media center- focusing on carpet updates.
  - Pre-k number added to enrollment. Our numbers reflect k-2; however, we can get an update from the ECLC principal.
  - If Pre-k is added to schools, it does give less transition and a closer proximity to their homes.
