School System Places Second in Nation for Use of Technology

fiogf49gjkf0d
The Fayette County Public School System placed second in the 2011-12 Digital School Districts Survey for its use of technology to communicate with students, parents, and the community, and to improve district operations.

The Digital School Districts Survey, conducted by the Center for Digital Education and the National School Boards Association and Converge, examines how school boards and their districts are applying information technology to improve service delivery and quality of education in public schools. All U.S. public school districts and school boards are invited to participate.

The study examines and documents school boards and districts’ online presence, technology applications that allow the public to interact with school board members, administrators and teachers as well as their access to information such as school board meetings, districts policies, and technology use in the classrooms.

The school system was ranked in the top ten in the Large Student Population District Category and received the Digital School Districts Survey award during the National School Board’s annual conference in Boston April 21-23. The school system will also receive a winners’ logo for its website.

The Center for Digital Education is a national research and advisory institute specializing in K-12 and higher education technology trends, policy, and funding.
