Recognition is based on school districts that have made the greatest gains in the percentage of students meeting or exceeding state standards. Determinations were made based on the achievement gains of the economically disadvantaged subgroup for assessments administered in the 2006-2007 school year compared to assessments administered in the 2007-2008 school year. The school district will receive a $50,000 grant award in addition to the Distinguished District recognition. Awards presentations will be made at the 7th Annual Title I Statewide Conference in June , 2009.
