Q. If a superintendent decides to give an employee a 3-day suspension, can he do that without going to the board?
A. Proposed Answer: No. The employee still retains the right to have notice of the charges against him and present the board with reasons why he should not be suspended, either in person or in writing. The board then has to approve the recommendation.
With that said, if the superintendent needs to remove the employee immediately, he can do so by placing him on paid administrative leave.
